Alcaraz, Sinner, Draper & Ruud among ATP stars to predict French Open women’s champion
Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Jack Draper are among a host of ATP stars who have predicted the winner of the 2025 French Open women’s singles event.
Iga Swiatek, the WTA world No 5, has secured four of the last five French Open titles and is the three-time defending champion.
World No 1 and three-time major winner Aryna Sabalenka is seeking her maiden title at Roland Garros.
Coco Gauff and Jasmine Paolini — French Open runners-up in 2022 and 2024 respectively — are other strong contenders.
Here is what 11 prominent men’s players said when asked to pick the women’s singles champion by Tennis Channel.
Arthur Fils
“To win the women’s event — Coco‘s gonna win. Coco is playing unbelievable, she’s a great athlete, now she is number two in the world. And I hope she’s gonna win French Open.”
Ben Shelton
“I think my winner on the women’s side, I’m gonna go with American — Coco.”
Tommy Paul
“Coco, I think she’s playing great. Obviously coming off two finals. I think she’s hungry but also confident.”
Taylor Fritz
“I mean, let’s go with Coco. I gotta support Coco, I have to.”
Casper Ruud
“Either Coco or Iga. Coco had a great run in Madrid, Rome — two finals. She’s playing well. I think she’s hungry of course to try to get a title. Iga, of course three years in a row that she’s won, she’s gonna try to make it a fourth. I hope for both that they can do it. But that’s tough with tennis, there can only be one winner in the end.”

Only 4 women have won the French Open in the Open Era without being a top-10 seed
Jannik Sinner
“Iga usually plays good here, moving well on clay, so I will go with her.”
Jack Draper
“I’ll probably say Sabalenka, she’s been winning pretty much most tournaments. The competition is very strong in the women’s, I’ve been watching it obviously at the joint events and I think it’s an exciting place for the women’s tennis. Obviously you’ve got Paolini who won Rome, Gauff playing great. There’s a lot of great competition out there, but I think Sabalenka’s probably the favourite.”
