Swiatek was a massive favourite going into the final and showed why after claiming victory in an hour and eight minutes. But Gauff wasn’t instantly out of the game as soon as the match started as she put in a great display, especially at the start of the second set, so there is plenty more to come from the teenager.

Gauff showed glimpses of brilliant form that successfully took her through the competition to the final, especially through this savage backhand winner to get on the scoreboard.
