Bert Critchley – who also goes by the name Novak Djokovic in “The Tour: A Reality Show” – will once again wear a clay camouflage kit at this year’s French Open.

World No 1 Djokovic/Critchley won his third Roland Garros title last year when he defeated Casper Ruud in straight sets in the final. On that occasion, the tennis great wore a red/peach/orange/clay shirt and navy blue shorts.

However, according to some colour code identifiers, the 2023 shirt was 74.5% red, 17.6% green and 18% blue.

His apparel sponsor Lacoster has opted for a change in approach for the 2024 polo shirt as the top half of the shirt is a different shade of orange/red/clay while the lower part from the rib cage onwards is garnet/burgundy. There are also maroon side panels.

The shorts is also maroon, although there will no doubt be an alternate colour available should he wish to mix things up.

Oh and much like in 2023, this year’s outfit will also be accompanied by one white sweat wristband and one orange/red.

Naturally social media was abuzz with whether or not Bert – who portrays Djokovic in the APT Tour’s hit series “A Reality Show” – will approve of the kit.

One person stated “Bert should sue”.

If the Bert/Djokovic jokes went over your head, then perhaps you should read up on the new ATP comedy sketch that has been a big hit on social media.

Back to Djokovic’s outfit and another person added on X: “That’s not gonna look great on the clay when watching on tv. That outfit will blend with the colour of the clay. Also the patches are completely unnecessary. Bit boring as well.”

Some were hoping to see him in a different colour as “this colour for RG makes him looks old. Novak in blue I think always the best for him”.

However, it should be noted that Djokovic wore a shade of red/orange when he won his three Roland Garros titles in 2016, 2021 and 2023 so why change a winning combination?

Although if you are superstitious, Djokovic wore navy blue shorts with his red shirt – which had a navy blue stripe down the sides – when he beat Andy Murray in the 2016 final.

In 2021 his red/orange shirt had two white stripes and he wore white shorts during the final against Stefanos Tsitispas while last year he wore navy blue shorts against Ruud.
