Novak Djokovic will remain “a danger for everybody” at Grand Slam events in 2025, according to ATP Tour star Lorenzo Musetti.

No man in history has won more Grand Slam singles titles than Djokovic, who is a 24-time major winner.

The 37-year-old won three out of the four Grand Slam titles up for grabs in 2023 but then failed to win a major title in 2024, his first Slamless season since 2017.

2025 sees the Serbian look to win a historic 25th Grand Slam title and gain back ground on the likes of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, who swept the majors in 2024.

Musetti knows what it is like to play Djokovic at a Grand Slam tournament, losing to the former world No 1 at the 2021 French Open, and then at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon in 2024.

And, in an interview with the South China Morning Post, the world No 17 claimed that the 37-year-old remained a threat to the likes of Sinner, Alcaraz, and world No 2 Alexander Zverev this year.

“Novak will always be [competing for grand slams] if his physical condition is stable,” said Musetti.

“He is a danger for everybody – for Jannik, for Sascha and for Carlos Alcaraz. Last year, Jannik showed he was one step ahead of everyone else, he had such an incredible season.

“But Novak is always dangerous and he knows a little bit about how to play on those grand slam courts and in those conditions.”

Novak Djokovic’s Australian Open prep dented after stunning Brisbane loss

The Grand Slam season begins in just over a week at the Australian Open, with action in Melbourne getting underway on January 12th.

The Australian Open has been the most successful event of the Serbian’s career, with Djokovic having won a record 10 men’s singles titles inside Melbourne Park.

Djokovic last won the title in 2023, though suffered a first-ever semi-final loss at the tournament 12 months ago to eventual champion Jannik Sinner.

The world No 7’s preparation for the first Slam of 2024 was not ideal, with the 24-time Grand Slam champion beaten in the last eight of the Brisbane International.

After victories against Rinky Hijikata and Gael Monfils in rounds one and two, Djokovic fell 7-6(6), 6-3 to world No 293 Reilly Opelka on Friday.

Meanwhile, Musetti’s preparation for the first major of 2025 also did not go to plan.

Seeded second at the Hong Kong Men’s Tennis Open, the 22-year-old was defeated in the last eight by Jaume Munar, having started his campaign with a solid win over Gabriel Diallo.

Defeat for Musetti means he missed the chance to seal a top-16 seeding for the Australian Open draw.
