Novak Djokovic trolled by airline after visa drama as social media pokes fun with memes
Unsurprisingly, a lot of memes are doing the rounds on the back of Novak Djokovic’s bizarre start to the 2022 tennis season with the world No 1’s visa cancelled upon his arrival in Australia.
After announcing on Tuesday that he was headed Down Under to compete at the season-opening Australian Open following an exemption from authorities, things escalated pretty quickly as when he touched down he was kept at Melbourne’s Tullamanrien airport for more than nine hours.
And then came the bombshell from the Australian Border Force that his visa has been revoked as he “failed to provide appropriate evidence to meet the entry requirements to Australia”.
Even before the announcement came the Internet started poking fun as Djokovic was cast in “The Terminal”.

Of course the fans of his old foe Roger Federer took an opportunity to poke fun and had the Swiss maestro as a member of the border control team.

Spending such a long time at the airport was always going to take its toll.

Once the announcement came, Ryanair was quick to get in on the act.

Not many people will come out of this saga with their heads held high with the Australian government, Victoria government and Tennis Australia all coming in for some criticism.

Nothing like a tennis Hawkeye meme to sum things up.

Don’t be too surprised if a Novak Djokovic series comes out on Netflix in the near future or they might just do an episode on Border Security: Australia’s Front Line.
they should just do an episode on him pic.twitter.com/aakiGqMCbr
