Actress Rebel Wilson urges fans to stop guessing name of tennis star she had ‘situationship’ with
Actress Rebel Wilson started a social media guessing game when she revealed she had a romantic relationship with a female tennis player, but she insists she will not reveal the identity of the star.
The Australian actress is set to release her autobiography and it includes a passage about her relationship with the tennis star.
Wilson revealed she dated men prior to the relationship which changed her perspective on romance as she made these comments in her book.
“Sometimes, when I was dating men, people would even comment. They’re like, ‘God, Rebel, you can take them or leave them. You weren’t that ever invested’,” she wrote.
“And then, here was somebody where (I) felt so invested in and even thought at one point, “Oh, I could give up my career for this person, travel around the world on the tennis circuit”.’
“I describe it as cracking open my heart. Like you could open a fresh can of tennis balls…that’s what it did to me. And, I guess, when I saw people write love songs or poetry about love, I was like, “Oh, that’s nice”. But I don’t think I’d ever understood that until I felt that for a person.
“It could have been that just the guys I was dating just weren’t the one. Or that, also, I wasn’t open to intimacy that much back then, so I never allowed myself to feel real feelings. And then the first time was with the tennis player.”
Those comments sparked plenty of rumours about who the tennis star in question may have been, with Wilson keen to shut down the gossiping as she posted this message on Instagram: “Please stop speculating about the “tennis player” in my book’ she wrote. It is NOT anyone I follow on social media or have been publicly photographed with!”
Wilson has often spoken about her love of tennis and has been a regular attendee at major tournaments including the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open.
“I don’t know whether you guys know but one of my original career choices was to be a professional tennis player,” said Wilson on Instagram in 2021.
“I ended up being way too short (and also not good enough) but geeesh I used to love being a beast on the court!”
Wilson has plenty of friends in the tennis world and she is launching her book with former player Rennae Stubbs, with events planned to give the book a full launch in America over the next few days.
The awarded-winning actress is currently in a relationship with her fiancée Ramona Agruma.
