Tennis great tells fanatical Novak Djokovic fan to ‘move on and get over the incident involving Nole’
One Novak Djokovic fan has been told that “s**t” happens and he needs to move on following the bottle incident involving the 24-time Grand Slam winner at the Italian Open.
World No 1 Djokovic was accidentally hit on the head by a bottle that fell out of a spectator’s bag while signing autographs after his second-round win in Rome on Friday.
The tennis legend slumped to the floor clutching his head before he eventually got back on his feet and was escorted back to the changerooms by security.
Djokovic was given the all-clear after undergoing medical tests and he even made light of the incident the following day as he wore a cycle helmet to training.

But on Sunday he admitted that he was not feeling well after the incident he revealed that he struggled with nausea and dizziness.
“It was a very unfortunate, unlucky situation for me. It was an accident where that guy leaned over the fence, and the bottle dropped from his rucksack and landed directly on my head,” he said.
“It was unexpected obviously. I wasn’t even looking up. Then I felt a very strong hit in the head. That has, yeah, really impacted me a lot. After that I got the medical care. Been through half an hour, an hour of nausea, dizziness, blood, a lot of different things.
“I managed to sleep okay. I had headaches. The next day or yesterday was pretty fine, so I thought it’s okay. Maybe it is okay. Maybe it’s not.”

Although Djokovic and Italian Open officials confirmed it was an accident as the bottle slipped out of the bag, one fan demanded an apology on social media platform X, writing: “A simple public apology from the fan would clear up that his intentions were indeed accidental.
“He fled the stadium when he saw the Police after his actions caused a bad head injury to a member of the public. I’m amazed that no investigations have been conducted accident or not.”
But tennis great Boris Becker chimed in as he urged the fan to move on.
“Hey my friend , as you know I like /respect you but …you gotta move on and get over the incident involving Nole ! S**t happened, now focus on Roland Garros! We can’t change the past …” the six-time Grand Slam winner replied.
But the Djokovic fan insisted he simply want to avoid similar incidents going forward.
“I agree with you mate, but to look at the future you can’t forget the past,” he said.
“I just think there were many failings by the tournament and I went to ensure going forward any further “accidents” are avoided and the safety and well being of players are given the utmost priority. ❤️”
