Venus Williams and Johanna Konta set to headline 2021 Nottingham Open

Five-time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams and British No 1 Johanna Konta are set to headline this summer’s Nottingham Open line-up, depending on how they fare at the French Open.
The WTA Tour event kicks off the grass-court season from June 5-13 at the Nottingham Tennis Centre, returning to the calendar after last year’s cancellation due to coronavirus.
However, due to the pandemic, this summer’s French Open has been put back a week, meaning it will still be in action when the Nottingham tournament is due to take place.

If any player is still involved at Roland Garros they will be forced to withdraw from the Nottingham Open.
Williams, who celebrates her 41st birthday this June, is due to be joined by Konta, runner-up in 2017 and 2018, British number two Heather Watson and current world No 11 Belinda Bencic.
Donna Vekic, Elena Rybakina and Alison Riske are among other players on the entry list.
Tournament director Rebecca James said: “The Nottingham Open marks the much-anticipated return of our summer grass court season, and to have such big names on the entry list for the WTA event just adds to that excitement.
“Even though all our events will look different this year, we are delighted to be bringing world class tennis back to Nottingham and are looking forward to starting the 2021 grass-court season with a bang.”
The tournament is expected to operate at 25 per cent capacity for spectators, with free tickets being made available for key workers.
