WATCH: Casper Ruud’s sister Charlotte and cousin Josefine Falster caught strutting their stuff in United Cup tunnel
Norway star Casper Ruud might have warned his sister and cousin that cameras would be on them all the time at the United Cup venue.
Those cameras caught a candid and hilarious moment as the youngsters were caught practising their model walks through the tunnel.
Ruud’s sister Charlotte and cousin Josefine produced a viral moment as the event was taking place inside Ken Rosewall Arena.
When asked about the funny moment in a presser later, Ruud admitted that while his sisters are generally not that shy in front of the camera, they were left thoroughly “embarrassed” after the incident.
“They like to be around the tournaments and show up, like to sit in the box.
“That’s their favorite thing to do.
“They were courtside with us,” Ruud said.
“This is not typical for them to do these things. I think they were a bit embarrassed. I saw them. They were blushing and all red on their faces.”
The Norwegian said that it served as a useful reminder that you can’t do everything whenever and wherever you want.
“It was a good kind of learning experience for them to say that they can’t do anything they want at all times,” Ruud said.
Sister Charlotte Ruud jumped right in with her socials. While swiftly conceding that she had learnt her lesson, she begged her brother not to hate on her.
“No hate please @casperrud, lesson learned,” Charlotte Ruud wrote.
Casper Ruud led Norway to their first United Cup victory on New Year’s Day, dominating both his singles and the doubles matches against Croatia.
He levelled the tie with a strong performance in the singles, defeating Borna Coric 6-4, 6-1. Earlier, Malene Helg fell to Donna Vekic in the first women’s singles match.
After that, Ruud joined up with Ulrikke Eikeri to defeat the seasoned Ivan Dodig and Donna Vekic in a decisive mixed doubles match that went all the way to the super tiebreaker. The match was won by the Norwegians 6-2, 3-6, 10-7, and 2-1 in the tie. Additionally, they climbed up to the top of Group F in the United Cup, now ahead of Croatia and the Netherlands.
As he is ready to pose a significant threat in the Slams this year, Ruud will want to regain some of his best form. Ruud has never been beyond the last 16 at the Australian Open winning just five of nine match in Melbourne.
