2025 Miami Open: When is the draw? Who are the top seeds? Will Novak Djokovic and Emma Raducanu play?

The second leg of the 2025 Sunshine Double, the Miami Open, will once again feature the best men’s and women’s tennis players in the world and we have all the info you need ahead of the tournament.
When and where does the 2025 Miami Open take place?
There won’t be much of a break for those who reach the latter stages of this week’s Indian Wells Open as the Miami tournament starts just a few days later.
The women’s main draw gets underway on 18 March while the men’s first-round matches start a day later. The women’s final is set for Saturday 29 March while the men’s showpiece match will take place on the Sunday.
The joint-ATP-WTA 1000 event will once again take place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens following its 2019 relocation after 32 years at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne.
The multi-purpose venue is home to the Miami Dolphins and can host up to 65,000 people in the NFL, but temporary seating is available for the tennis event, meaning the capacity is 14,000.
Please remind us what happened at the 2024 tournaments…
The men’s draw had an expected winner as Jannik Sinner was one of the favourites and he beat defending champion Daniil Medvedev in the semi-final before brushing aside Grigor Dimitrov 6–3, 6–1 in the final.
With Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff all falling early, there was bound to be a surprise champion and the trophy went to Danielle Collins as the unseeded American beat Elena Rybakina in the final.
Who will play in the 2025 edition of the United States tournament?
Six-time champion Novak Djokovic has not played at the Miami Open since losing in the fourth round against Roberto Bautista Agut in 2019. He has opted to skip some events while he was also banned from entering the United States during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Despite his early exit in Indian Wells, the 24-time Grand Slam winner has confirmed that he will travel to Miami.
On the women’s draw, Emma Raducanu and Naomi Osaka had nightmare outings in Indian Wells, but they will also be in the main draw as their rankings are good enough for direct entries.
There will be 10 Grand Slam winners in the women’s draw.
Who will NOT play in Miami?
Thirty-one of the top 32 players in both the ATP Rankings and the WTA Rankings will feature at the Miami Open.
The biggest absentee, of course, is Jannik Sinner as he won’t be allowed to defend his title as he is currently serving a three-month ban following his failed drug tests in March 2024.
It means he will drop 1,000 points after the tournament.
On the women’s side, reigning Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova is once again missing as she is still struggling with a back injury while 2023 Wimbledon winner Marketa Vondrousova – who was not due to be seeded – is also out due to injury.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Iga Swiatek: World No 1 set to increase rankings lead in Indian Wells
Who are the projected top 10 seeds for both events?
With world No 1 Sinner out, Alexander Zverev gets the top-seed status and he will be followed by Carlos Alcaraz, Taylor Fritz, Novak Djokovic, Casper Ruud, Andrey Rublev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, Alex de Minaur and Tommy Paul.
Although it can still change as seedings are based on the rankings of 17 March.
The women’s seedings are based on the rankings of 3 March so Aryna Sabalenka is followed by Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, Madison Keys, Jasmine Paolini, Elena Rybakina, Emma Navarro, Zheng Qinwen and Paula Badosa.
What about wildcards and protected rankings entrants…
Nick Kyrgios and Reilly Opelka have used their protected rankings to enter the men’s draw while rising star Learner Tien has received a wildcard.
Two-time Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova and Australia’s Ajla Tomljanović are among the women to receive wildcards.
Can Jannik Sinner and/or Aryna Sabalenka be replaced at No 1 after the tournament?
It’s mathematically impossible for the pair to drop down the rankings after the tournament as both have a big enough points lead over Alexander Zverev and Iga Swiatek, respectively.
When is the draw?
The 96-player field will consist of 32 seeds who will receive first-round byes.
Miami Open organisers have split the women’s and men’s draw in the past few years with the former taking place on the Sunday before the start of the main draw matches and the men’s draw being held the following day.
