World No 6 Novak Djokovic has chosen not to compete at the Italian Open, but he will only drop 50 points after a third round exit a year ago, while 10th-ranked Holger Rune lost at the same stage as the Serbian.

Nicolas Jarry is facing the prospect of a huge rankings collapse after the tournament as he is defending 650 points from his 2024 runner-up result.

Jarry’s compatriot Alejandro Tabilo is dropping 400 points from his 2024 Rome semi-final showing, which has taken him from 42nd to 57th on the live list. World No 12 Tommy Paul was the other man to make the last four a year ago.
