ATP Rankings Race to Turin: Alcaraz, Sinner, Djokovic lead ATP Finals charge
Three out of the four Grand Slam tournaments are done for 2025, with only the US Open left to play at the end of the summer.
However, there are still plenty of big events to come on the ATP Tour, and qualification is up for grabs for the ATP Finals in Turin at the end of the year.
Here, we look at how the race to the year-end championships is heating up ahead of a crunch few months for several leading stars.
Alcaraz and Sinner clear
Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have split all three Grand Slam titles between them so far this season and have been the dominant forces on the ATP Tour as a whole.
Sinner’s four-set victory over Alcaraz in Sunday’s Wimbledon final has moved him up to 6,000 points in the ATP Race, despite only playing five tournaments in 2025 due to his three-month ban.
Alcaraz is still No 1 in the race with 7,450 points after his SW19 runner-up finish, and is the only player officially qualified for the ATP Finals so far.
However, with two Grand Slam titles and 6,000 points for the season to his name already, reigning ATP Finals champion Sinner is also effectively ensured of his place at the tournament.
Djokovic, Fritz, Shelton surge
Alcaraz and Sinner are comfortably clear as the top two in the race, but there has been some significant movement behind them.
Most notably, Novak Djokovic has surged to No 3 in the race after reaching the last four of Wimbledon, moving up three spots in the rankings.
The Serbian has struggled at times in 2025, though he has reached the semi-final of all three Grand Slams this season and won the ATP 250 title in Geneva.
Seven-time ATP Finals champion Djokovic, who holds 3,380 points, is well-placed to qualify, though he withdrew from the event in 2024, meaning his participation may not be guaranteed.
Djokovic’s surge up the ATP Race standings comes at the expense of Alexander Zverev, Jack Draper, and Lorenzo Musetti, who all lost early at Wimbledon.
Zverev and Musetti, who were beaten in round one, are fourth and sixth in the race, with Draper in fifth after his round-two exit at the All England Club.
Also surging up the standings is US No 1 Taylor Fritz, who had struggled before the grass court season.
Despite initial grass-court titles in Stuttgart and Eastbourne, Fritz was still down at 14th in the Race to Turin before Wimbledon.
However, after reaching his first semi-final at the tournament, the American has surged up seven places to No 7 in the race, on 2,465 points.
He will now look to consolidate his place inside the top eight across the hard-court summer, having reached the final of the US Open last year.

Also surging into the top eight is Fritz’s fellow American Ben Shelton, who reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the first time this year.
Shelton is now eighth in the race with 2,210 points, with the 22-year-old looking to reach the ATP Finals for the first time in his career.
Fritz and Shelton’s leap into the top eight came at the expense of Casper Ruud, who was knocked down two places from seventh to ninth after skipping Wimbledon.
However, the Norwegian is only 135 points behind Shelton, and can move back into the top eight with a strong run in Gstaad this week.
