The fashion stakes are high at the Australian Open, with an array of outfits on display throughout the first four days of the tournament.

We look at some of the best-dressed players from this year’s action in Melbourne.

Carlos Alcaraz

For someone with the star power of Alcaraz, it has been surprising to see him wear such underwhelming outfits at recent majors – particularly at the French Open and US Open last year.

However, Nike have certainly upped their game in Melbourne, with the world No 3 wearing one of the best kits of the whole tournament.

Alcaraz has once again adopted the classic ‘Nadal’ sleeveless look – something that he has used frequently across his career.

Here, his teal-coloured kit matches well with the Australian Open courts – and has certainly proved a hit online with fans.

Destanee Aiava

One of the feel-good stories of the tournament so far has been Aiava’s run, with the 24-year-old home favourite coming through qualifying before saving match points to defeat Greet Minnen in round one.

Not only has Aiava attracted headlines for her tennis, but she has also been generating a lot of attention online for wearing vintage tennis dresses during her matches.

During qualifying, she wore outfits that were most famously worn by former world No 1’s Ana Ivanovic and Maria Sharapova during the peak of their powers.

For her victory over Minnen, Aiava was wearing the same Adidas by Stella McCartney dress that another former No 1 – Caroline Wozniacki – wore during her 2013 US Open campaign.

Coco Gauff

Gauff’s longstanding partnership with New Balance has been a hugely successful one, with the American often among the best-dressed athletes on the WTA Tour.

The Australian Open is no exception, with the world No 3 sporting custom day and night kits for her campaign so far.

Gauff wore a white and grey ensemble for her daytime opening match versus Sofia Kenin on Monday, before an all-yellow outfit for Wednesday’s evening session contest against Jodie Burrage.

Both outfits are incredibly sleek and stylish – exactly what we’ve come to expect from New Balance at this stage.

ATP world No 11 Tommy Paul is among those also wearing New Balance kits at the Australian Open.

Frances Tiafoe and Leylah Fernandez

Lululemon are a fairly new brand in the tennis world – but they have certainly made a big impact Down Under.

Just days before the tournament, they announced they were now working with US star Frances Tiafoe, who wore a stylish pink kit for his opening-round win over Arthur Rinderknech.

Also wearing Lululemon is women’s singles 30th seed Leylah Fernandez, who wore the WTA version of the kit for her opening two matches in Melbourne.

The Canadian has impressed both in the fashion stakes and with her tennis – with a round three match versus Gauff up next.
