The line-up for the revamped US Open mixed doubles event has been revealed – and there are some headline pairings.

The fourth and final Grand Slam event of the year had already confirmed that the mixed doubles competition would be held over two days before the start of singles action.

This was done to try and entice more singles players to compete and bring more attention to the competition.

And, it is fair to say that the tournament’s mission has been a successful one, with a stunning line-up for the event revealed.

There are several big pairings confirmed for the event across August 19-20, though few will attract as much attention as Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu.

Two of the biggest stars of their generation, the two Grand Slam winners, are among the landmark pairings set to feature in the tournament.

They are not the only superstars set to compete, with Novak Djokovic set to make a rare doubles appearance.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion will partner up with compatriot Olga Danilovic at Flushing Meadows, as he looks to add a mixed doubles major to his stacked trophy cabinet.

Another notable pairing involves ATP world No 1 and reigning US Open men’s singles champion Jannik Sinner.

The Italian will partner home favourite and WTA world No 9 Emma Navarro, who reached the semi-final of the women’s singles draw twelve months ago.

Sinner may be keen to avoid a clash with vocal critic Nick Kyrgios, who is entered alongside four-time Grand Slam singles champion Naomi Osaka.

Navarro is joined in the field by a strong US contingent, with a handful of all-American pairings set to be in action.

Former doubles world No 1 and 2024 women’s singles runner-up Jessica Pegula partners Tommy Paul, while Ben Shelton pairs up with doubles star Taylor Townsend, and Madison Keys plays with Frances Tiafoe.

World No 4 and US No 1 Taylor Fritz partners former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, while reigning US Open winner and WTA world No 1 Aryna Sabalenka teams up with Grigor Dimitrov.

Also in action will be Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori, the reigning mixed doubles champions at Flushing Meadows, and tennis super couple Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa.

2022 US Open champion Iga Swiatek will pair up with Casper Ruud, who was the runner-up in the men’s singles event that same year.
