Emma Raducanu’s grass-court season is officially over, and all eyes now turn to how the Brit will fare across the hard-court summer in North America.

It has been almost four years since Raducanu’s stunning and historic triumph at the 2021 US Open, though the 22-year-old will be keen to make some new memories over the next two months.

Here, we look at where the Brit is now and why she has the chance to make up some big ground across the next few weeks.

As it stands

2025 has proven challenging on and off the court for Raducanu, though there has undoubtedly been an uptick in form over recent months.

That culminated in an impressive run at Wimbledon, where the Brit defeated Mimi Xu and former champion Marketa Vondrousova in straight sets, before falling to world No 1 Aryna Sabalenka.

Despite impressing in her third-round loss to Sabalenka, Raducanu ultimately dropped down the WTA Rankings post-Wimbledon.

The Brit had reached the fourth round as a wildcard in 2024 and, after making round three in 2025, has dropped down five places to world No 45 in the WTA Rankings.

However, she now has the chance to surge back up the rankings across the hard-court summer.

2024 hard-court summer

Raducanu’s 2024 hard-court summer began at the Citi DC Open in Washington, where she impressed on her way to the quarter-finals.

The Brit defeated eighth seed Elise Mertens in round one and then dispatched home favourite Peyton Stearns in the second round, before a quarter-final defeat to eventual champion Paula Badosa.

For her run in Washington, Raducanu earned 108 ranking points.

Despite an encouraging start to her North American summer, Raducanu then did not play for around a month due to fitness concerns.

The Brit did not return to action until the US Open at the end of August, where her campaign ended at the first hurdle.

Raducanu was beaten in three sets by fellow Grand Slam champion Sofia Kenin and, as a result, won just 10 ranking points from Flushing Meadows.

Where will Raducanu play in 2025?

Raducanu has committed to a bigger summer schedule in 2025, meaning she has a significant opportunity to earn a chunk of ranking points.

The Brit’s summer will again start at the Citi DC Open, which takes place from July 21-27.

Raducanu will look to defend her 108 quarter-finalist points from 2025 against a strong field at the WTA 500 event, which includes the likes of Jessica Pegula and Amanda Anisimova.

But then, having skipped the Canadian Open last year, the 22-year-old is set to return to the event after a three-year absence.

Raducanu made her sole appearance at the WTA 1000 event back in 2022, falling to Camila Giorgi in the opening round.

This year’s women’s event will take place in Montreal, with the men’s and women’s events switching between Montreal and Toronto in alternate years.

Following on from the Canadian Open, she will then return to the Cincinnati Open, another WTA 1000 event, for the first time since 2022.

Raducanu picked up memorable wins over Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka in Cincinnati three years ago, before falling in the third round to Jessica Pegula.

Both Canada and Cincinnati offer a significant chunk of ranking points, and the Brit undoubtedly has a huge opportunity to boost her ranking through both events.

She will also have the chance to earn significant points at the US Open, which starts August 24th.

With just 10 points to defend from last summer, Raducanu will need just one match win in New York to boost her WTA Rankings points tally.
