Carlos Alcaraz was the big winner at the 2025 Monte Carlo Masters as he won the ATP Masters 1000 title for the first time, but how much money and how many points did he receive for his efforts?

Playing at the Monte Carlo event for only the second time in his career, Alcaraz defeated first-time Masters finalist Lorenzo Musetti 3–6, 6–1, 6–0 to win the title.

The four-time Grand Slam winner has struggled in recent weeks as he failed to defend his Indian Wells Open trophy, losing in the semi-finals before being shocked by David Goffin in the second round of the Miami Open.

But the Spaniard has learned some valuable lessons in recent weeks.

“A lot of people have really high expectations on me, on having a really good clay season. Probably they want me to win almost every tournament, so it’s [going to] be difficult to deal with it, I guess,” he stated.

“But one thing that I learned the last month is I have to think about myself. I have to think about myself. I have to just think about my people, my team, my family, my friends, my close friends.

“No matter what happens on court — if I win, if I lose — I just have to leave the court happy. I’m proud about everything I have done. So that’s something that I learned, and I think I did it this week and it paid off.”

It certainly paid off in terms of ranking points and money earned for the 21-year-old.

ATP Points Earned

ATP Masters 1000 winners earn 1,000 points and there is good news for Alcaraz as he left with the full haul of points as he didn’t participate last year, resulting in a return to No 2 in the ATP Rankings.

In case you didn’t know, players have to defend their points from the previous year so although they “earn” X points for this year’s run, they also drop points from last year’s result.

Runner-up Musetti is a case in point as he was awarded 650 points for reaching the final, but was defending 100 points from 2024 when he reached the third round. The end result in he added only 550 points to his rankings tally.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Alex de Minaur were the two players who exited in the semi-final with 400 points awarded and the former leaves with 375 while De Minaur added 200 points.

Players who lose in the quarter-final earn 200 points and Arthur Fils, Alexei Popyrin, Grigor Dimitrov and Stefanos Tsitsipas are the four who lost on Friday.

Tsitsipas was hit the hardest as he was the defending champion so he is -800 (+200 for reaching the quarter-final and -1000 from 2024).

Fils was +150 and Dimitrov and Popyrin were +100.

In terms of other big names, Casper Ruud finished runner-up last year but lost in the third round so he was -550 after losing in the third round.

Tennis Novak Djokovic as well as top seed Alexander Zverev lost in the second round and the former is -390 as he reached the semi-final in 2024 while Zverev dropped 50 points.

ATP Prize Money Earned

There was a three per cent increase in prize money for the 2025 winners and Alcaraz left with a cheque of €946,610 ($1,021,255), which has seen him pass the $40m mark for career prize money. He is currently eighth on the all-time list with $40,231,787.
