Holger Rune was the big winner at the 2025 Barcelona Open as he stunned Carlos Alcaraz in the final, but how many points and how much prize money did ATP stars earn for their efforts at the event?

Having won his previous title at the 2023 Munich Open exactly two years ago, Rune ended his drought with a superb 7-6(6), 6-2 victory over Alcaraz to secure his maiden Barcelona crown.

There had been encouraging signs for Rune since he reunited with coach Lars Christensen in October last year, including a runner-up result at the Indian Wells Masters in March.

This was the breakthrough result Rune had been waiting for, though, with the 21-year-old Dane having lost 13 straight matches against top five players before beating Alcaraz.

“It means the world, it was such a great match,” Rune said in an on-court interview.

“I think, at the beginning, I was a bit stressed since Carlos plays big-time tennis and I had to breathe a lot and find my rhythm.

“After the beginning where he broke me, I played more my tennis and then it was a big battle – the first set was important – I know how it feels to lose such a first set, and, for me, it was super important to win it and gain the momentum, so I’m so proud of myself.”

ATP Points Earned

Champions at ATP 500 tournaments collect 500 ranking points, and Rune left Barcelona with the maximum haul.

Rune has climbed to ninth in the ATP Rankings after his win increased his points tally by 400 points. The former world No 4 was defending 100 points from reaching the Munich semi-finals in the same week in 2024.

Alcaraz secured 330 points for his runner-up result, boosting his ranking by exactly this amount of points as he did not play the event last year due to injury. Despite this, the Spaniard dropped from second to third in the rankings as Alexander Zverev won the Munich title.

Arthur Fils and Karen Khachanov, who reached the semi-finals in Barcelona, each earned 200 points. Fils boosted his total by 100 points, while Khachanov increased his by 200 as he was not defending any points from 2024.

The four players who exited at the quarter-final stage — Alex de Minaur, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Casper Ruud — left Catalonia with 100 points.

Those who fell in the second round, including Andrey Rublev, picked up 50 points.

ATP Prize Money Earned

A total of €2,889,200 was split between players at the 2025 Barcelona Open, with Holger Rune taking home the €535,185 champion’s check.

Alcaraz’s run to the final was worth €285,435, while Fils and Khachanov secured €148,065 for making the last four.

Quarter-finalists de Minaur, Tsitsipas, Davidovich Fokina and Ruud collected €77,395, while players who reached the second round earned €40,735. An opening round exit saw players leave with €22,305.
