Alexander Zverev injury update: Brother Mischa says he is ‘smiling’ after surgery, but also ‘bored’
Alexander Zverev is refusing to be too downbeat after undergoing an operation on his injured ankle with his brother Mischa saying “he is doing very well under the circumstances”.
The German tore ligaments in his ankle after his foot gave way when he slipped during his French Open semi-final against Rafael Nadal last Friday. He screamed in anguish as he collapsed to the ground and left the court in a wheelchair.
Initial scans confirmed that he tore several ligaments and on Tuesday evening he gave another update to confirm that he had undergone surgery.

Mischa gave further insight into the injury suffered by the world No 3, but also revealed that he had a smile on his face.
“The ligaments were damaged, but the syndesmosis ligament and the capsule are intact,” he told Eurosport Germany.
“All the other joints and the cartilage are also fine. It is really only the ligaments that have suffered.
“He is doing very well under the circumstances, he immediately had a smile on his face and we spoke on the phone several times.”
The 25-year-old will have to keep off his feet for a few weeks and will need to find some other forms of entertainment.
“Sascha said: ‘Come over, I’m bored, let’s play Playstation,'” Mischa added.
“He gave me a Lego package with 9,000 pieces for the birth of my second son. I think I’ll give it back to him, because now he has enough time to build the Colosseum.”
