Stunning display by Alexander Zverev as he seals place in Vienna final

Alexander Zverev reached his fifth ATP Tour final of the season at the Erste Bank Open after beating Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets.The Olympic champion and second seed triumphed 6-3 6-3 to end 18-year-old Alcaraz’s strong showing in Vienna.

“I finally found my rhythm from the baseline because I was really struggling,” Zverev said on court.“I didn’t feel the ball well and I spent some time on the court yesterday and warmed up for an hour and a half before the match today, and I finally got it.”

Zverev will face Frances Tiafoe after the American came back from a set and 2-5 down to claim a come-from-behind 3-6 7-5 6-2 win over Jannik Sinner.

“It has been a long week for me,” Tiafoe said. “I tried to have fun with it and get the crowd involved and could see if he would get a little nervous.

“I know how to get the crowd behind me, few jokes and that and then I started to play unbelievably. The crowd made the difference. I felt because of them I started to lock in harder.”

Elsewhere, Marin Cilic reached the final at the St. Petersburg Open after cruising past qualifier Botic van de Zandschulp 6-3 6-3.The former world number three will face Taylor Fritz, who beat Jan-Lennard Struff 5-7 6-1 6-3, in the final.
