Aryna Sabalenka has already left her mark on the history of tennis and there is no doubt a lot more to come from the three-time major winner.

WHEN IS SABALENKA’S NEXT TOURNAMENT?

The Belarusian endured a poor Middle East Swing as she lost in the second round of the Qatar Open and the round of 16 at the Dubai Tennis Championships.

In October 2024, she ended the Pole’s 11-month stint at the top of the rankings and reached world No 1 status for the first time.

At the end of the season, she finished as the year-end No 1 after winning the Australian Open and the US Open.

As of 24 February 2025, she is 16th on the all-time list for most weeks at No 1 with 27 weeks.

SABALENKA’S BEST WINS

In 2023, she defeated Elena Rybakina 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the final of the Australian Open to capture her first Grand Slam title – hitting an impressive 51 winners.

Sabalenka improved on this in 2024, where the Belarusian defended her Australian Open title via a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Zheng Qinwen, and claimed her third Grand Slam at the US Open in the final against Jessica Pegula (7-5, 7-5).

WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT HER

American John McEnroe praised Sabalenka’s powerful game during her US Open title run:

“I have a lot of respect for her because she has really maximised what she can do on the court and that’s why she is finally winning majors and contending in almost every major.

“Considering where she was a couple of years ago when she had the yips, and you’re wondering if she could ever get that serve together, I think it’s amazing what Sabalenka has done.”

Former Grand Slam champion Mats Wilander has also recognised Sabalenka’s ability to add more variety to her game, in order to compete with the best:

“She is not just hitting the ball as hard as she can, she is mixing it up and hitting some drop shots.

“I never thought she was going to be able to do that. But she has really done it.”
