Jannik Sinner has entered his 10th week as the world No 1, while Sebastian Korda, Matteo Arnaldi and Alexei Popyrin have all reached new career-high ATP Rankings positions with their Canadian Open success.

Sinner first climbed to the top of the rankings after the French Open in June and he now sits in 21st place on the list of ATP players with the most weeks at No 1.

The 22-year-old has overtaken two-time Grand Slam winner Marat Safin, who spent nine weeks on top, and he now has Boris Becker in his sights, with the German legend in 20th place with 12 weeks at No 1.

Sinner’s lead at the top of the ATP Rankings over world No 2 Novak Djokovic has shortened to 310 points after he dropped 800 points for his quarter-final exit in Montreal as he was the 2023 Canadian Open champion.

The Italian’s hold on the No 1 spot is secure, though, as Djokovic will lose 1000 points after the Cincinnati Masters since he will not defend the title he won last year.

Cincinnati Open men’s singles draw: Carlos Alcaraz handed good draw as Jannik Sinner enters under injury cloud

Jannik Sinner’s biggest opponent is revealed – and it’s not Carlos Alcaraz or Novak Djokovic

Carlos Alcaraz remains in third position on 7,950 points and is now 510 points behind Djokovic and 820 adrift of Sinner.

Andrey Rublev has climbed two places from eighth to sixth following his run to the final in Montreal, with Hubert Hurkacz dropping to seventh.

Casper Ruud and Grigor Dimitrov have both moved up one spot, while Alex de Minaur has fallen from seventh to 10th after being unable to defend the points from his 2023 Toronto runner-up result due to injury.

After making a four-place jump a week ago courtesy of his Washington title run, Sebastian Korda has continued his ascent by leaping three more places to a new career-high of 15th. The American reached the last four in Montreal.

The biggest movers in the top 100 were Matteo Arnaldi and Alexei Popyrin, who have surged to career-best rankings of 29th and 30th respectively.

Arnaldi jumped 17 places to world No 29 for reaching the semi-finals in Canada, while Popyrin has made a 32-place surge to world No 30 for his run to the final.
