How many points will Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev drop in March?

The back-to-back Masters 1000 tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami will take centre stage in March, but how many points will ATP stars be defending in the next month?
In February, the ATP Tour has visited Europe, North America, South America and the Middle East for a range of ATP 500 and 250 level tournaments.
The last of the February tournaments — which are ongoing in Acapulco, Dubai and Santiago — will conclude at the start of March.
After that, the prestigious ‘Sunshine Double’ events will be the only ATP tournaments taking place in March. The Indian Wells Open will be held from March 5-16, while the Miami Open will run from March 19-30.
Therefore, the points that players on the men’s tour will defend in March are from the 2024 editions of Acapulco, Dubai, Santiago, Indian Wells and Miami (excluding Challenger Tour events).
ATP Rankings Top 10 (February 24)
1. Jannik Sinner, Italy – 11,330
2. Alexander Zverev, Germany – 8,135
3. Carlos Alcaraz, Spain – 7,510
4. Taylor Fritz, United States – 4,900
5. Casper Ruud, Norway – 4,325
6. Daniil Medvedev – 4,030
7. Novak Djokovic, Serbia – 3,900
8. Alex de Minaur, Australia – 3,785
9. Andrey Rublev – 3,670
10. Tommy Paul, United States – 3,280
Jannik Sinner, the world No 1, is currently sidelined due to his ban for failing doping tests — which started on February 9 and expires on May 4.
The Italian will lose the 1,000 points he earned for winning the Miami Open in 2024, while he has already been stripped of the 400 points he collected for reaching the semi-finals in Indian Wells last year. This is because Sinner tested positive for a banned substance during Indian Wells.
World No 2 Alexander Zverev is set to drop 600 points after he made the last four in Miami and the quarter-finals in Indian Wells in 2024.
Carlos Alcaraz, who is ranked third, is defending a hefty 1,200 points in March as the reigning Indian Wells champion and a quarter-finalist in Miami last year.
Taylor Fritz, the top American and world No 4, will only defend 110 points next month after a subpar 2024 ‘Sunshine Double’.

Daniil Medvedev will defend more points than any other man, having collected a mammoth 1,250 points from reaching the Indian Wells final, as well as semi-finals in both Miami and Dubai last year.
World No 7 Novak Djokovic is set to drop just 50 points as the only tournament he played in March 2024 was Indian Wells — where he exited at the third round stage.
