The top four men’s players in the world will keep their ranking positions after the Australian Open, but there will be some big climbs and drops further down the ATP Rankings.

The final in Melbourne will be contested by Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev, who have strengthened their respective leads over the rest of the pack.

Sinner, the world No 1 and defending Australian Open champion, is on 11,130 points in the live rankings — just shy of 3,000 points clear of second-placed Zverev. The winner will add a further 700 points to their tally.

Zverev has stretched the gap to world No 3 Carlos Alcaraz, who fell in the quarter-finals for the second successive year, to 1,125 points.

ATP Rankings Top 10 Before Australian Open

1. Jannik Sinner, Italy – 11,830
2. Alexander Zverev, Germany – 7,635
3. Carlos Alcaraz, Spain – 7,010
4. Taylor Fritz, United States – 5,350
5. Daniil Medvedev – 5,030
6. Casper Ruud, Norway – 4,210
7. Novak Djokovic, Serbia – 3,900
8. Alex de Minaur, Australia – 3,535
9. Andrey Rublev – 3,520
10. Grigor Dimitrov, Bulgaria – 3,200

Taylor Fritz will drop 300 points having fallen in the third round as he reached the quarter-finals a year ago, but he will have a more comfortable hold on the world No 4 spot after the tournament than he did beforehand.

This is because Daniil Medvedev — who started the event in fifth place — is set to slide to seventh as he will lose a hefty 1,250 points for his second round exit. The Russian was a runner-up in 2024.

This will allow Casper Ruud and Novak Djokovic to climb to fifth and sixth respectively. Ruud exited in the second round, while Djokovic matched his semi-final result from 2024 — which means he will remain on 3,900 points.

Alex de Minaur will stay in the No 8 position after reaching his maiden Australian Open quarter-final — a run that boosts his tally by 200 points.

Tommy Paul is set to break into the top 10 for the first time, with his quarter-final result lifting him up two places to a new career-high spot of world No 9 in the live rankings.

Andrey Rublev will lose 390 points and fall from ninth to 10th after his opening round loss to Joao Fonseca.
