Ben Shelton ‘hard launches’ Olympic gold medallist girlfriend much to Coco Gauff and co’s delight
It’s not official until it’s on Instagram and Ben Shelton and Trinity Rodman have taken the big step by confirming their romance on the social media site.
There had been several rumours that tennis star Shelton had been dating the United States Women’s National Soccer Team (USWNT) forward Rodman but they have kept things low-profile, until now.
Shelton posted a series of pictures on Instagram and the last slide is a photo of him with Rodman in an elevator. Her arm is around his neck while she places a kiss on his cheek.
The tennis player captioned the post “I been focused, but I’m steady climbin’, I’m nowhere near my peak” and the football star commented, “Shooters shoot I guess .”
Rodman is the daughter of former American basketball player Dennis Rodman, but she has made no secret of the fact that her relationship with her father has been very complicated over the years.
The 22-year-old has made her way to the top in football as she has been capped 46 times by the United States, scoring 10 goals, and helping them to win gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Shelton, meanwhile, is the son of former ATP player Bryan Shelton and has reached a career-high of No 12 in the ATP Rankings having won two titles – the Japan Open in 2023 and the US Men’s Clay Court Championships the following year.
He has also reached the semi-finals of two Grand Slams as he made the last four at this year’s Australian Open, losing against eventual winner Jannik Sinner while he lost at the same stage against 2023 US Open winner Novak Djokovic.
Shelton has been tipped for big thing and he already has big endorsements with Swiss sportswear company On as well as watch giant Rolex. Rodman has deals with the likes of Red Bull, Oakley and Adidas.
The American tennis player’s fellow stars on the ATP Tour and WTA Tour were quick to share their thoughts on the 22-year-old’s decision to “launch” (make public) his romance with Coco Gauff writing: “hard launchhhhh !!”
Sloane Stephens went with a similar reply as she wrote “HARDD LAUNCH!!!!!! ” while Frances Tiafoe added, “We gram now ”

American football and tennis fans are excited about the prospect of another sports power couple.
It remains to be seen when the two will make their first public appearance together with Shelton currently in action at the Miami Open while Rodman just kicked off the 2025 National Women’s Soccer League season with the Washington Spirit.
Miami, of course, is a short flight away so she could decide to attend one of Shelton’s matches at the ATP Masters 1000 event in the coming days.
