Ben Shelton has claimed that when it comes to style, Roger Federer is an inspiration for him on and off the court.

The rising ATP Tour star thinks that the Swiss can show up in style at any occasion, as Federer has shown time and again on red carpets as much as red clay.

Federer is an inspiration to a new generation of young players in no small part due to his impressive record of victories and accolades and his style.

Still, it’s undeniable that the Swiss have an impact that extends well beyond tennis.

Federer, a global brand ambassador for UNIQLO, has always paid attention to his attire both on and off the court. The 20-time Grand Slam winner appears to have a taste for sharp attire; he is frequently seen sporting fashionable footwear, fitted Blazers, and Rolex watches.

Shelton highlighted Federer’s knack for suiting up well for the Met Gala and on the tour like at Wimbledon.

“I get style inspiration from different people, other athletes, and Instagram. Roger is one of those guys who can do it all. He can do it on the court, he can do it off the court, he can do it at the Met Gala, he can do it at Wimbledon,” Shelton said in chat to ON.

Shelton says that he has been proud to don ON’s new gradient tennis kit, which he used at the tail-end of the campaign.

“There’s this great tradition and rich history in tennis. A lot of the brands other players are wearing – they don’t make much outside of traditional clothes, so my buddies on tour are definitely jealous of the gradient kit I’ve been wearing. They all want to touch it,” he added.

The Young American says that he remains open to new experiences.

“I’m trying to have a growth mindset,” Shelton said.

“I’m competitive and I want to win but I have to remind myself that I’m nowhere near where I want to be with some things.

“Yeah, hopefully I have a long career ahead of me and time to fine-tune my style.”

Shelton says that he doesn’t have any sort of training ritual but is always willing to put in the hard work in preparation.

“I’m not a superstitious ritual guy,” Shelton adds

“My warm-ups vary. I eat different things. I do like to listen to aggressive hip-hop to hype myself up before I go on court, but it just comes down to hard work. Hard work is not something that I’m just ‘whatever’ about. When it’s time for me to really put in work, I’m fine being the first guy to show up to the facility or the last guy to leave.”
