Carlos Alcaraz’s coach joins the ranks of Novak Djokovic injury doubters
Carlos Alcaraz’s coach Juan Carlos Ferrero has expressed his doubts about the extent of the injury suffered by Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open.
It was widely reported that Novak Djokovic suffered a 3cm tear to his hamstring after that claim was made by Australian Open director Craig Tiley.
Djokovic himself has not revealed any prognosis, scan results or really issued any sort of update beyond a very basic outline of how he was feeling, although there really is no reason for him to do so but that has only fuelled speculation.
Several high profile figures around the game have questioned the narrative presented by Tiley including Todd Woodbridge.
Now Former French Open champion Ferrero has added his name to those who have questioned whether Djokovic suffered a hamstring tear at the Australian Open.
“I am not going to call Djokovic a liar, but I will only say that I find it difficult,” said Ferrero.
“I see it as difficult, if it were so, Djokovic would move as he did. Obviously if he has the ability to withstand brutal pain, which may be, good for him and he deserved to win.

Djokovic is set to return to the ATP Tour to defend his Dubai Tennis Championships title next week.
He said that he wasn’t yet at full fitness but would still travel to Dubai and intends to compete for the first time since he won the Australian Open for the tenth time earlier this year.
“As for the injury I sustained at the Australian Open, it’s healed, but I’m not 100 percent yet,” the world No 1 told reporters at a press conference this week.
“Things are looking very good. As a team, we made the decision to go to Dubai.”
As for the persistent stories and opinions regarding the nature and status of his injury, Djokovic wasn’t prepared to address the doubts directly, feeling that there was no need to give credence to what he feels are dubious reports.
“I really do not have the time, energy, or will to deal with every story that appears on the internet, or what someone says about something,” said Djokovic.
“I know what is right and what is true.”
