Carlos Alcaraz has been described as “the most gifted player on tour” and backed in a Grand Slam title prediction by Serena Williams’ former coach Rick Macci.

The Spanish star, who will turn 22 in May, has already won four Grand Slam titles in a glittering career to date.

Alcaraz‘s maiden major triumph at the 2022 US Open made him the youngest world No 1 in ATP history at the age of 19 years and four months.

The 21-year-old has secured the last two Wimbledon titles and he also won his maiden French Open crown last year.

If Alcaraz wins either of the next two editions of the Australian Open, he will become the youngest man to complete the career Grand Slam in the Open Era. His legendary compatriot Rafael Nadal currently holds the record.

In a tweet on X, Macci lauded Alcaraz’s talent and revealed what he feels will be the key to the Spaniard winning 10 or more majors.

“Carlos is the most gifted player on tour. He has all the shots. He runs like a deer and has no fear,” the American wrote.

“When he locks in a little more and puts more returns back in play, double figure Grand Slams will come his way.”

In a series of other posts about Alcaraz, Macci declared: “His make up speed is like the sport has never seen. He is so turbo fast you sometimes cannot see it either.

“He is like a Cheetah with a stick driving a SSC Tuatara. Speed kills! And in tennis this speed will drive the Spanish magician to double figure Grand Slams.

“His career will be road of twists and turns. Failure is part of success. We look at results like the weather. Like the weather it never is the same.

“When you’re a generational talent to breathe rare air, the sun will shine bright more than it rains.”

Last year, Macci hailed Alcaraz’s completeness and compared him to Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andre Agassi.

“He is the most complete player I have ever seen,” the 70-year-old said.

“Every box is checked from the technical to mental with imagination and inspiration.

“The Spanish magician is a rare blend of Fed (Federer) with feel.

“Rafa [Nadal] with Grind. Joker (Djokovic) with Elasticity. [Andre] Agassi with compaction. Lets sprinkle in an Olympic sprinter with traction.”

Alcaraz will face Alex de Minaur in the final of the Rotterdam Open as he aims to win his maiden title on indoor hard courts.
