Carlos Alcaraz knows his place in partnership with Rafael Nadal
Carlos Alcaraz may be the player who is ranked highest at the moment but there is no question who will be the senior partner when he teams with Rafael Nadal at the Paris Olympics.
Alcaraz revealed that the pair hadn’t spoken much at all about how their doubles campaign will proceed.
He feels that the discussions will be held on court and in person, rather than from a distance over the phone or the internet.
The world No 2 has also been occupied with his pursuit of the French Open and Wimbledon titles which he has now secured.
The Paris 2024 Olympic Games Tennis event will be played on clay at Roland Garros from Saturday 27 July to 4 July.
Alcaraz believes that he and Nadal will get up to speed before the tournament starts in the first week of the Paris Games.
He added that he won’t be doing very much talking at all in this partnership.
“Not much,” he said, when asked if he’s been any contact with Nadal about their prospective Olympic partnership, according to Express.
“He’s also doing his thing, we’re doing ours. We talk very little, but when we’re at the Games, we’ll talk about doubles and, above all, how we’re going to do it.
“I’m not nervous right now. When the time comes, I will be. And yes, obviously, he’s already experienced this, he already knows what it’s like to play in the Olympics, to win a gold in both singles and doubles. I’m new, I’m the rookie here, so I have to keep my mouth shut and just listen to him.”

Alcaraz is also zeroed in on adding the Olympic Games singles gold to his collection of big titles which now includes a pair of Roland Garros wins and triumphs at Wimbledon and Flushing Meadows.
Still, he counts the chance to make a doubles tilt alongside his undoubted hero as a great privilege.
“I am going to go for the title, I am going to go just thinking that I will able to win it, that’s my goal to bring a medal to my country, hopefully the gold medal,” he said.
“And obviously, the doubles with Rafa is going to be a really dream moment for me. Obviously, we will try to bring home the gold medal again.”
The official draw for the Olympic event will be held at 11:00 local time in Paris on Thursday 25 July.
