“I think that for me to play another tournament is positive, because every match is a new beginning, and I must be mentally ready to give my all on the court.

“My family stand behind me, and my friends. That is the most important thing for me. Tennis is important in my life, but nevertheless, family and friends are more important.”

After losing in the second round in Halle against Alexander Bublik, Sinner went on to admit the defeat against Alcaraz has impacted his ambitions in his first tournament back on grass.

“The truth is that after the defeat in Paris, it wasn’t easy to be competitive here,” he added. “I’m relatively satisfied to have been able to play two matches on grass before Wimbledon.”

Now Alcaraz has given his reaction to those comments from his great and responding to a question from Tennis365 after he reached the Queen’s Club semi-finals with a win against Arthur Rinderknech, he admitted the pain of a big defeat can take time to heal.

“There were a few matches, really long matches that I have lost, and yeah, I just left the court by myself with the head up, and I didn’t need too much time to recover from that,” said Alcaraz. “Then there were other matches that it was really tough to deal with.

“I know that day for him, that final was pretty tough to deal with after all mentally. So I don’t know. From my experience, some matches that I have lost, I took three, four days just to recover mentally.

“Physically, as well, if it was demanding physically. So two or three days minimum just to recover from a really tough loss.”

Alcaraz is now on a 15-match winning run after this latest victory and he admits he is in a buoyant mood heading into the weekend at Queen’s Club.

“I’m feeling great, honestly,” he added. “The last three matches was in different surfaces, so I just try to adapt my tennis the best way possible

“I think it’s going great. Obviously, as much wins as I get, the more confident I’m going to get. Right now I’m feeling great on the court. A lot of things that I can improve, obviously, on grass, but right now

“I’m just really happy with everything, you know, how the days have gone lately. So, I mean, confidence is pretty high, and hopefully keep going.”
