Carlos Alcaraz vs Jack Draper at Swiss Indoors: Match time and TV and streaming info
British youngster Jack Draper has been handed a tough headline clash at the Swiss Indoors as he will face world No 1 Carlos Alcaraz in the opening round of the ATP 500 tournament on Monday.
Alcaraz will be looking for his first ATP Tour win since lifting the US Open trophy in September as David Goffin stunned him in straight sets in the second round of the Astana Open.
“I couldn’t handle that pressure that he was pushing on me and of course it’s something that I have to learn and take lessons from this match,” the Spaniard said after his defeat in Kazakhstan.
He added: “Coming back to competition is never easy.”
Draper, who moved automatically into the main draw following Nick Kyrgios’ withdrawal, is coming off a second-round defeat at the European Open against Hubert Hurkacz.
But the 20-year-old has had plenty of positive news recently as last week he became the first British player to qualify for the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan and on Monday he became the British No 3 as he edged past Andy Murray in the ATP Rankings to a career-high No 45.
His breakthrough season has already seen him reach the third round of the US Open and the quarter-final of the Canadian Open while he has beaten the likes of Stefanos Tsitsipas and Felix Auger-Aliassime this campaign.
It will be Alcaraz and Draper’s first-ever meeting at the winner will face either Botic van de Zandschulp or Adrian Mannarino in the second round while fifth seed Pablo Carreno Busta is the projected quarter-final opponent.
What time is the Carlos Alcaraz vs Jack Draper match?
The encounter will be the second match of the day on Centre Court with it scheduled 18:00 BST at St. Jakobshalle
Brandon Nakashima’s encounter against David Goffin will get the action underway on day one at 14:00 before a short opening ceremony takes place on court. They were initially going to honour the great Roger Federer, but the 20-time Grand Slam winner turned down the opportunity.
Alcaraz and Draper will follow before Arthur Rinderknech and fourth seed Marin Cilic conclude proceedings at roughly 20:00 BST.
The likes of Casper Ruud, Auger-Aliassime, Andy Murray and Carreno Busta will be in action later in the week.
