Coco Gauff’s partner confirmed as Olympic mixed doubles field is revealed
Coco Gauff’s quest for Olympic Games gold on three fronts has been confirmed after being chosen as one of Team USA’s mixed doubles competitors.
World No 2 Gauff was already confirmed to be the second seed in the women’s singles draw, and top seed alongside Jessica Pegula in the women’s doubles.
Now, she will be among the leading contenders in the mixed doubles draw with the 20-year-old set to partner US men’s No 1 Taylor Fritz at Paris 2024.
Both Gauff and Fritz are making their Olympic debut in Paris and the partnership is undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with in the mixed draw.
With a combined ranking of 13th – Gauff being WTA No 2, and Fritz ATP No 11 – the pair look set to be the third seed in the draw.
It has been a big morning for Gauff, who has not only had her place in the mixed draw confirmed.
The US star has been confirmed as her nation’s youngest Olympic opening ceremony flagbearer ever, joining basketball icon Lebron James on Friday night.

On paper, the top seeds look set to be the German pairing of Alexander Zverev and Laura Siegemund, with the latter using her doubles ranking to enter.
The pair played a key role in Germany’s successful United Cup campaign at the beginning of the season, and Zverev will be looking for a second Olympic title – after winning men’s singles gold in Tokyo.
Doubles specialists Matt Ebden and Ellen Perez are projected to be the second seeds, representing Australia.
Other blockbuster pairings include Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari, who are set to compete for Greece.
Tsitsipas previously expressed doubt about playing with Sakkari in Paris, though the two are now confirmed to unite once again after pairing up in Tokyo.
Elsewhere, WTA world No 4 Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan will pair up with Alexander Bublik, while Mirra Andreeva and Daniil Medvedev compete under the neutral athlete banner.
French hopes sit on the shoulders of Caroline Garcia and Edouard Roger-Vasselin, while real-life couple Katerina Siniakova and Tomas Machac compete for Czechia.
Danish stars Holger Rune and Caroline Wozniacki are also entered, but their combined ranking may not be high enough to get them into the draw automatically.
