Consistency key for proud Iga Swiatek as she adds top 10 to her already impressive resume

She had already ticked off Grand Slam winner from her to-do list and now Iga Swiatek can also tick off top-10 player after surging up the WTA Rankings on the back of winning the Italian Open.
After stunning the world in September by winning the 2020 French Open without dropping a set, Swiatek has continued her rise this campaign by winning titles in Adelaide and Rome.
Her success in the Italian capital over the weekend was pretty impressive as she saved a match point in the third round against Barbora Krejcikova, then beat fifth seed Elina Svitolina in the quarter-final while a few hours later she saw off Coco Gauff in the semi-final.
And there was even more to come as she thumped ninth seed Karolina Pliskova 6-0, 6-0 in the final on Sunday.

Her run of form has seen her rise to a career-high of No 9 in the WTA Rankings.
“It is pretty crazy and I’m really proud of myself that I’m actually starting to be more consistent, because that was my goal from the beginning,” the 19-year-old said.
“Actually, I feel right now that I am doing huge progress in that matter.”
She added: “Obviously winning a Grand Slam is great, but after that comes rankings, and this year it was different.
“So I’m really proud that I’m going to have in my resume that I’m top 10, because I always wanted that. I also want to be consistent. So right now our goal is to keep me in that place and go further.”
