Serena Williams and Ons Jabeur’s doubles encounter at the Rothesay International Eastbourne will once again be the hottest ticket in town on Wednesday.

Tennis great Williams made her long-awaited competitive comeback on Tuesday as she teamed up with world No 3 Jabeur to defeat Sara Sorribes Tormo and Marie Bouzkova in the opening round of the WTA 500 event.

The pair will be back in action Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club, which also hosts the ATP 250 event this week, on Wednesday as they will take on Shuko Aoyama and Chan Hao-ching for a place in the semi-final.

The Williams-Jabeur vs Aoyama-Chan clash will once again be the final match on Centre Court so it is likely to start at 18:30 again.

In the singles, fifth seed Garbine Muguruza will be the highest seed in action and she will take on 12th seed Camila Giorgi at 11am on Court 1.

Two Brits will be in action in the third round on Wednesday after Katie Boulter and Jodie Burrage pulled off stunning wins on Tuesday.

Boulter, who upset former world No 1 Karolina Pliskova, will face another Czech as she will take on two-time Wimbledon champion and 14th seed Petra Kvitova at about 12:30 on Centre Court while Burrage, fresh from defeating world No 4 Paula Badosa, takes on Beatriz Haddad Maia directly after the Boulter-Pliskova clash on the main court.

Defending champion Jelena Ostapenko faces 11th seed Madison Keys at 15:30 on Court 1.
