First of many end of year awards handed to Emma Raducanu

Emma Raducanu looks certain to land a host of major honours in the final weeks of 2021 and the first has come her way after she was named Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year.
Raducanu is a leading contender for a series of prestigious awards in the coming weeks and she is red-hot favourite to win the prestigious BBC Sports Personality of the Year at an awards ceremony next month.
Now the first of the honours destined to be added to the list of Racuanu’s achievements in her breakthrough year on the tennis tour has been confirmed with the Sunday Times award.
Raducanu, who is currently 19th in the WTA world rankings, won the award ahead of fellow nominees Emily Campbell (weightlifting), Kate French (modern pentathlon), Laura Kenny (cycling), Lauren Price (boxing), and Sarah Storey (cycling).
Now Raducanu is set to return to a UK tennis court this weekend, as she is playing an exhibition match at the Champions Tennis event at the Albert Hall in London when she takes on Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse.
So excited to be playing in front of a home crowd this weekend @ChampionsTennis, an event I would go to watch as a young kid. Also to see some legends go head-to-head at the @RoyalAlbertHall: https://t.co/Q8CuaxNnrx#atpchampionstour #championstennis pic.twitter.com/jVlV7jVCqx
