Fedal to team up at Laver Cup again? Rafael Nadal teases about possible Roger Federer doubles reunion
Fedal fans may well get to see their favourite players compete in doubles again in future with Rafael Nadal sending a teasing request to Roger Federer about teaming up at the 2022 Laver Cup in London.
Federer and Nadal famously played doubles at the inaugural Laver Cup in 2017 as they were part of Team Europe that defeated Team World 15–9 in Prague.
Although they also featured in the 2019 tournament in the Geneva, they didn’t combine in the doubles.
This year, though, Federer and Nadal were absent from the event in Boston – which was won 14-1 by Team Europe – as they are nursing injuries, but they hope to return for the 2022 edition, which will be staged at The O2 Arena.
Nadal sent a polite inquiry to Federer on Instagram Stories asking if he wants to play in the doubles next year.
Both Nadal and Federer are yet to reveal when they will return to action with the former confirming earlier in September that he had undergone a procedure on his injured foot while Federer has vowed not to rush back following a third knee operation.
