She won the Sunshine Double during that famous streak, and later went on to win both the French and US Opens in a year where she became World No 1 before building a monstrous lead at the top of the standings.

Her lead was enhanced by the retirement of Ash Barty, who had won the first Grand Slam of the year and retired from the top of the sport taking those 2000 rankings points out of the game with her.

In 2023 she defended her French Open title and fought back from slipping off the top of the rankings to win the WTA Tour Finals in Cancun and snatch the year-end No 1 status for the second year running.
