Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz grilled each other with a series of questions in an entertaining joint interview ahead of the 2024 ATP Finals.

The duo divulged which shots they would — and would not — take from each other, while they identified the worst part about facing one another.

Sinner and Alcaraz are currently ranked first and third respectively in the ATP Rankings and they each won two of the four Grand Slam events this year.

The pair will both aim to win their maiden ATP Finals crown at the 2024 edition of the year-end championships in Turin.

Sinner is in the Ilie Nastase group, while Alcaraz is in the John Newcombe group, which means the Italian and the Spaniard could face off in either the semi-finals or the final.

In a video shared by the ATP Tour on the eve of the ATP Finals, Sinner and Alcaraz sat down for a fun conversation. Here is everything the two stars asked each other.

Q. What makes me a champion?

Sinner: Many things, but I would say your mentality and work ethic.

Alcaraz: Your mentality and the way you play in the bad and good moments, you know.

Q. Do you have a nickname for me in the locker room?

Alcaraz: I call you like everybody, like… ‘Carrot.’

Sinner: I would say, which suits you very good, like you are a beast. ‘The Beast’ is coming and then you come in.

Q. One shot that you would take from me?

Sinner: It’s very easy, your drop shots. Like this from the net (makes gesture with his hand to show how close they are above the net). Why not?

Alcaraz: I will take the backhand. With your backhand, it will be a little bit easier every day.

Q. What shot would you not take from me?

Alcaraz: Your volley (laughs).

Sinner: Yeah, that was easy, though (smiles). I am in a bad situation because you play everything good.

Alcaraz: Not really.

Sinner: Your serve, if I have to choose one, but it’s the… (indicates a tiny amount).

Alcaraz: I agree (smiles).

Q. What’s the worst part about playing me?

Sinner: That you have to make the point three times, every time. You run so fast, it’s amazing. Plus, you never give up.

Alcaraz: You play every point the same, nine or 10 out of 10. It is incredible. You don’t miss. Sometimes it’s a nightmare.
