‘Jannik Sinner will win 14 Grand Slam titles in his career’, predicts former world No 12
Feliciano Lopez has described Jannik Sinner’s 2024 campaign as “a season beyond all logic” as he hailed the Italian’s “ability to keep the bar high.”
The former world No 12 also predicted how many Grand Slam titles Sinner will win in his career.
Sinner secured his maiden major crown at the 2024 Australian Open, where he came back from two sets down to beat Daniil Medvedev in the final. He overcame defending champion Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals in Melbourne.
The 23-year-old then won his second Grand Slam at the US Open in September as he defeated Taylor Fritz in straight sets in the championship match. He dropped only two sets during a dominant title run at Flushing Meadows.
The Italian’s triumphs saw him become the fourth — and youngest — man to win both hard-court majors in the same year.
Sinner was also a semi-finalist at the French Open and a quarter-finalist at Wimbledon this year, losing to Carlos Alcaraz and Medvedev respectively.

The world No 1 finished his outstanding 2024 season by inspiring Italy to a successful Davis Cup title defence in Malaga last week.
Sinner won all three of his singles matches at the Davis Cup Final 8 stage in straight sets, while he also contributed to a crucial doubles win in the quarter-finals.
Lopez, the Davis Cup tournament director, gave his thoughts on Sinner’s achievements this year.
“This year he has had a season beyond all logic, winning an unreal number of matches and, above all, losing only six over the course of the season,” Lopez told Corriere dello Sport.
“There is no doubt, he deserves to be number 1 in the world. If there’s one thing more impressive than the intensity of his tennis, it’s his ability to keep the bar high. Everyone else has their ups and downs, but he doesn’t.
“If I think about it, two years ago he was a different player and today he still wants to improve, so I imagine how he could play if he continued like this.”
The Spaniard, who retired in 2023, was also asked to forecast Sinner’s career Grand Slam tally.
“It’s hard to say. I’m often asked about Alcaraz,” Lopez said. “He’ll definitely be in double figures, let’s say 14.”
