‘Jannik Sinner will win more than Carlos Alcaraz’, asserts French Open winner

French Open winner Adriano Panatta has asserted that he is “convinced” Jannik Sinner will “win more” than Carlos Alcaraz in the pair’s respective careers.
Alcaraz defeated Sinner 7-6(5), 6-1 in the final of the 2025 Italian Open to improve his record against the Italian to 7-4.
While Alcaraz and Sinner have each won 19 ATP titles, the 22-year-old Spanish star has the edge in terms of the biggest prizes in tennis, despite being almost two years younger than his rival.
Alcaraz has won four Grand Slam titles to Sinner’s three and seven Masters 1000 crowns to the Italian’s four.
Sinner, has though, triumphed at the ATP Finals and won the Davis Cup twice — feats Alcaraz is yet to achieve.
The 23-year-old Italian has also spent 50 weeks as the ATP world No 1, while Alcaraz has amassed 36.
In an interview with Corriere della Sera, Panatta backed Sinner to return to his best form swiftly following his comeback from a three-month doping suspension in Rome.
“I am convinced that the transition will happen soon, because Jannik deserves it,” the Italian great said.

Former world No 1 reveals way Carlos Alcaraz ‘can take an even greater lead over Jannik Sinner’
“He reminded everyone why he is number one. I wonder what the final would have been like if Jannik had had the continuity that the three months of stop, very unfair, have taken away from him.”
Panatta, a former world No 4, went on to argue that Sinner being more consistent than Alcaraz will prove decisive, despite the Spaniard’s higher ceiling.
“Alcaraz played a match like a real player, extremely concrete. But well done also Sinner, who played even matches as long as he could,” continued Panatta.
“I remain convinced that Sinner will win more than Alcaraz in their respective careers, because he is more consistent, while the Spaniard seems to become so only when he plays against the Italian.
“There is no doubt that when Alcaraz manages to combine all the best things in his tennis, the level he manages to develop is the highest on the circuit.”
Sinner and Alcaraz are set to battle for the French Open title, with the 2025 edition of the Paris Grand Slam due to begin on Sunday May 25.
Alcaraz is the reigning Roland Garros champion, while Sinner is seeking his first major outside of the hard courts of the Australian Open and the US Open.
