UK tennis fans fume at ‘ridiculous’ prices for Laver Cup tickets in London

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal at the Laver Cup

Tennis fans have been expressing their shock at the pricing structure for the Laver Cup, which will take place at London’s 02 Arena between September 23rd and 25th.

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have confirmed that they both intend to play for Team Europe at the event that has been championed by Federer and his management team over recent years.

Yet British tennis fans excited by the prospect of watching some high-class indoor tennis in London have been left bemused by the pricing structure of Laver Cup tickets that have been put on sale in recent days.

Tennis365 was granted access to the pre-sale for Laver Cup tickets and the prices appear to be wildly extravagant compared to what had previously been charged for tickets to attend the ATP Finals at the 02 Arena between 2009 and 2020.

Tickets to sit in the upper tier of the 02 Arena for the ATP Finals were priced at around £30 for a single session, but a three-day ticket to attend all sessions is priced at a lavish £551.49.

If you would like to be sitting in a seat that would give you a better view of the action in the lower tier of the 02 Arena, that will cost an eye-watering £3,031.41.

While it can be assumed that these ticket prices have been set to attract corporate clients, tennis fans have taken to Twitter to express their annoyance at being priced out of the race to buy tickets for the biggest indoor tennis event in the UK this year.

Single session tickets are set to be put on sale at a later date, but the pricing structure looks set to push a vast number of tennis fans out of the market for tickets.

By contract, Wimbledon are charging £75 for a Centre Court ticket on the opening day of this year’s Championships, with tickets for the men’s and women’s final going up to £240.
