Novak Djokovic is the player who holds the record for the most ATP Masters 1000 matches won on hard courts, and he extended his lead at the 2024 Shanghai Masters. 

The Serbian overtook Federer’s win total with his second round victory at the Indian Wells Masters in March, having equalled the Swiss by winning the 2023 Paris Masters.

There are 12 men who have won 100 or more hard-court Masters 1000 matches, with Andy Roddick (128), Pete Sampras (125), Tomas Berdych (123), John Isner (119), David Ferrer (107), Gael Monfils (103) and Stan Wawrinka (100) occupying sixth to 12th on the list respectively.

Here, we look at the five players with the most ATP Masters 1000 hard-court match wins.

5. Andre Agassi – 168

Andre Agassi played and won his first Masters 1000 matches in Indian Wells in 1990, while his final appearance at this category of event came in Indian Wells in 2006, where he reached the third round.

The Miami Open is Agassi’s most successful ATP Masters 1000 tournament for matches won (59) and win percentage (85.5%).

4. Andy Murray – 177

Andy Murray played and won his first ATP Masters 1000 match at the 2005 Cincinnati Open, while his final appearance at this level of event came at the 2024 Miami Open, where he reached the third round.

The Brit’s highest win total (35) at any Masters 1000 event was at the Cincinnati Open, while his best win percentage (82.1%) was at the Shanghai Masters.

3. Rafael Nadal – 210

Rafael Nadal made his hard-court Masters 1000 bow at the 2003 Madrid Open, while his first wins on the surface in this event category came at the 2004 Indian Wells Masters. He made his most recent hard-court Masters 1000 appearance at the 2022 Paris Masters, where he fell in his opening match.

In Indian Wells, the Spaniard has his best win percentage (84.3%) and highest win total (59) at a hard-court Masters 1000 event.

2. Roger Federer – 264

Federer made his Masters 1000 debut at the 1999 Miami Open and won his first match at this level at the same tournament a year later. He made his final Masters 1000 appearance at the 2019 Shanghai Masters, where he reached the quarter-finals.

The Swiss’ highest win total (66) and best win percentage (83.6%) at a hard-court Masters 1000 event were both in Indian Wells.

1. Novak Djokovic – 270

Following his run to the final of the 2024 Shanghai Masters, Djokovic has won 270 matches at Masters 1000 events on hard courts.

The 37-year-old Serb made his Masters 1000 debut at the 2005 Cincinnati Open, while he earned his first hard-court wins at this level at the 2006 Miami Open.

Djokovic holds his best win percentage at a hard-court Masters event at the Miami Open (86.3%), while he has amassed the most hard-court wins in this category of event in Indian Wells (51).
