Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal kept apart in draw for Monte-Carlo Masters
Novak Djokovic has avoided a possible meeting with Rafael Nadal until the final of the Monte Carlo Masters, but the draw has thrown up a potential heavyweight opener for the world No 1.
With Daniil Medvedev taking over from 11-time Monte Carlo champion Nadal as world No 2 in the latest ATP rankings there was a possibility of a Novak vs Rafa semi-final in Monte Carlo, yet that was avoided as the draw placed the two big hitters in opposite half of the draw.
Yet Djokovic is set to face a huge test in his opening match as he is set to take on Miami Open runner-up Jannick Sinner or 2017 finalist Albert Ramos-Vinolas.
This will be Djokovic and Nadal’s first appearance on court since the Australian Open in February, with duo practicing at the Monte Carlo Country Club in recent days as they prepare to return to action.

The prospect of Djokovoic renewing his rivalry with Nadal in the final of the tournament will only become a reality if they pair navigate a path through a high quality field in Monaco.
Djokovic could face a quarter-final against Alexandre Zverev and Nadal could be set to square off against Andrey Rublev in the last eight.
Medvedev could take on Diego Schwartzman in the quarter-finals and his last four opponent could be Nadal if both make it through to that stage of the tournament.
