Naomi Osaka breezes into Nottingham Open quarter-final

Naomi Osaka made light work of Denisa Allertova to reach the quarter-final of the Nottingham Open.
The third-seeded Osaka beat the Czech 6-3, 6-2 in just over an hour to reach her maiden WTA quarter-final on grass.
“I feel better about grass since I won, but so far it’s going really well for me,” the Japanese player said after the match. “It’s always better for me to just play matches – I’m the type of person that when I play more matches, I play better.”
Osaka will take on Mihaela Buzarnescu from Romania for a place in the semi-final after the fifth seed beat Irina Falconi 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.
Second seed Magdalena Rybarikova crashed out as Mona Barthel from Germany beat her 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 while Dalila Jakupovic secured a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Magdalena Frech.
