Naomi Osaka shares first cute pic of new-born baby and nursery as daughter’s name is confirmed
Former world No 1 Naomi Osaka has finally taken to social media to introduce her new-born daughter to the world.
Four-time Grand Slam winner Osaka’s boyfriend Cordae announced last weekend during one of his shows that she had given birth to a baby girl and the news was later confirmed by sources close to the couple a few days later.
It has since also been revealed that the baby has been named Shai.
Osaka took to Instagram on Thursday to reveal the first picture of her bundle of joy with Shai wearing a onesie that is embroidered with tennis rackets and balls.
The new mom captioned the post: “Well that was a cool little intermission, now back to your regularly scheduled programme.”
The social media carousel also included a photo of a heavily pregnant Osaka as well as a picture of the 25-year-old in her hospital bed.
In a separate post, Osaka teamed up with Crate & Kids to reveal Shai’s nursery.
“When tennis star @naomiosaka started planning a nursery for her new baby, she had only one goal in mind: Design a space her future daughter would love,” the post read.
“So, she did what most new parents do: Turned to @Instagram for inspiration. During one late-night scroll session she spotted a @crateandkids post featuring beautiful, sky-inspired gender-neutral colors and natural woods knew it would be perfect for her home.
“Enter: the @crateandkids team, who helped her settle on a theme and color palette, pick out the furniture and add some fun, personal finishing touches.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Osaka explained the meaning behind some of the choices.
“I wanted something that felt very peaceful and serene that would help the baby and me feel comfortable.
“The Crate & Kids team really brought that vibe to life through the color palette and all the textures, but also through the beautiful cloud mural they painted on the walls.”
She added: “As a first-time mom, I didn’t know much about nurseries, but from speaking to some moms I know, I knew having a comfortable rocking chair is important. I wanted one that reflects my style and the Pollie Rocking Chair is exactly what I had in mind.”
