Naomi Osaka the latest tennis player to express ‘shock’ over ‘current situation’ involving Peng Shuai

Four-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka has joined the chorus of people from the tennis community to reveal concern over the whereabouts of Peng Shuai.
Former doubles world No 1 Peng has not been heard from or seen publicly since accusing Zhang Gaoli, a former member of China’s Politburo Standing Committee, of coercing her into sex before they had an on-off consensual relationship.
The 35-year-old made the accusation on social media, but the post was deleted shortly after it was published.
Men’s world No 1 Novak Djokovic on Monday expressed his “shock” over the situation while both the ATP and WTA Tours have called for “a full, fair and transparent investigation”.
Former world No 1 Osaka took to social media to add her voice to the growing concerns.

“I was recently informed of a fellow tennis player that has gone missing shortly after revealing that she has been sexually abused,” she wrote. “Censorship is never ok at any cost, I hope Peng Shuai and her family are safe and ok.
“I’m in shock of the current situation and I’m sending love and light her way. #whereispengshuai.”
