Even reaching the final does not give you a permanent pass into Wimbledon…

Nick Kyrgios has revealed he was denied entry into the grounds of Wimbledon having forgotten to take any ID with him.

The Aussie is not competing this year as he recovers from injruy but even being a finalist does not guarantee you a way into the ground of the fabled tournament.

Speaking to talkSPORT, the Australian revealed that having had to replace his phone, he was without a legitimate way to get into the grounds.

“Look, I’m not normally one to say: ‘Do you know who I am?’ when I’m trying to get into events,” Kyrgios said.

“But today, my agent was like okay, let’s try and pick up your credentials just to save someone a ground pass and I was sitting there and she asked: ‘Do you have a photo ID?’

“I had just got a new phone, because it was broken, I didn’t have any photos… and she laughed before she asked me, so she clearly knew who I was but was just following protocol.

“I said, ‘do you reckon you could get me in and give me my credentials just one time’ and she was like: ‘No.’ I went: ‘Seriously? Please’, but they said they can’t do that.”

Kyrgios was eventually given his pass and then complained about being told to empty his pockets on the way through the game.

“Then I got body searched,” he added. “They told me to put all of my stuff down and I got body searched.”

While not featuring on the courts, Kyrgios has been in the Wimbledon headlines through his punditry work.

Most recently, he took a jab at Carlos Alcaraz by saying Jannik Sinner would win more titles due to the Spanaird’s off-court activities.

How to beat Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon: Nick Kyrgios reveals key as he sends Novak Djokovic message

Nick Kyrgios’ controversial Carlos Alcaraz comments as Australian states he is ‘on Team Sinner’

“Who do you think’s gonna have a better career, Alcaraz or Sinner?” Kyrgios asked on the Ultimate Tennis Showdown. “I’ll tell you mine first. I’ll say Sinner, because Alcaraz likes girls.

“He might get distracted, he might party too much. That’s my only thing, whereas Sinner will stay a bit locked in, I think.”

Alcaraz, though, took no offence but suggested it may be a little hypocritical given who the statement was coming from.

“They’re funny comments, which coming from him, don’t surprise me,” the 22-year-old Alcaraz said. “It’s no secret that Jannik always has fewer ups and downs than me. It’s something I’ve been working on. It has nothing to do with the nightlife world.”
