Defending champion Nick Kyrgios greeted by boos after retiring injured from Acapulco opener

Nick Kyrgios’ Mexican Open title defence lasted just 32 minutes as he retired with a wrist injury midway through his first-round match against Ugo Humbert.
The Australian came into the tournament under an injury cloud as he pulled out of last week’s Delray Beach Open due to a wrist problem, but was determined to return to action in Acapulco to defend his crown.
However, after battling through the first set, which was won 6-3 by Humbert, the 24-year-old decided to throw in the towel.
The Frenchman raced into a 4-1 lead after breaking in game four and Kyrgios took a medical timeout to get treatment on his left wrist before he eventually called it quits at the end of the set.
The crowd, though, didn’t take too kindly to the sixth seed’s retirement.
Unfortunately defending champion @NickKyrgios has had to pull out with a wrist injury, sending Ugo Humbert through to round two.
