Nick Kyrgios expresses Novak Djokovic fears as he makes Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner prediction
Nick Kyrgios has cast doubt over how much longer Novak Djokovic will be able to compete at the top level as he labelled Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner “the changing of the guard.”
Prior to the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, Kyrgios predicted that two-time reigning champion Alcaraz will defend his title.
During a recently-released video by the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, though, Kyrgios backed Sinner to have a better career than Alcaraz.
“I’ll say Sinner because Alcaraz loves the girls. He might get distracted, he might party too much,” said the Australian.
“That’s my only thing. Sinner will stay a bit more locked in, I think.”
Alcaraz and Sinner have both secured three of the last six Grand Slam events, while Djokovic was the last man outside the duo to win a major — winning his 24th Grand Slam at the 2023 US Open.
Speaking to TNT Sports during Wimbledon, Kyrgios shared his thoughts on Alcaraz, Sinner and Djokovic.
“I think Alcaraz and Sinner definitely have the reins,” said the former world No 13.

“They are the changing of the guard. [Roger] Federer and [Rafael] Nadal have gone already and I think the sport has felt that.
“Djokovic, I do believe, and I hate to say, is on his last legs. He’s still an amazing player and he can still compete, but I’m just not sure for how long.
“I think Alcaraz and Sinner will be carrying this sport for the next 10-15 years.
“These guys are incredible talents. They’re generational talents and athletes. The sport of tennis is in for a ride with these two competing for Grand Slams.
“We saw that at the French Open, it was one of the highest-quality finals that the sport has ever seen, so we all just need to enjoy the ride.”
Sinner and Djokovic will meet in the semi-finals at Wimbledon on Friday, and the winner will play either Alcaraz or Taylor Fritz in the final.
Djokovic is aiming to tie Roger Federer’s record by winning Wimbledon for an eighth time, while Sinner is chasing his maiden crown at the grass-court major.
Alcaraz defeated Djokovic in each of the last two Wimbledon title matches and beat Sinner in an epic French Open final last month.
