Novak Djokovic news: Nole confirms his next ATP Tour event following Sunshine Double setback
Novak Djokovic will make his return to the ATP Tour at the Monte Carlo Masters following his recent Sunshine Double disappointment.
The 20-time Grand Slam winner was unable to defend his title in Australia after he was deported from the country on the back of Immigration Minister Alex Hawke’s decision to cancel his visa for a second time on “health and good order grounds”.
After initially saying that he was prepared to miss big tournaments due to his unvaccinated status, Djokovic then delayed his withdrawal from the Indian Wells Open and Miami Open until the last minute as he had hoped the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) would change entry regulations.
However, with the CDC opting to keep the status quo for foreigners entering America, he was unable to travel to the United States.

Djokovic, who made his season debut at the Dubai Tennis Championships where he lost in the quarter-final, will now only feature on the clay at the Monte Carlo Masters with his website confirming his entry.
“Novak will open his 2022 clay court season in Monte Carlo, where he won the Masters 1000 title twice, in 2013 and 2015,” a post read.
The ATP Masters event, which will run from April 14-17, allows international travellers with a proof of recovery from Covid-19 in the last six months and Djokovic returned a positive test in December.
The Monaco organisers have also confirmed that spectators won’t need a vaccination pass for access to the Monte Carlo Masters.
