Novak Djokovic cannot win the French Open, claim legends

Novak Djokovic is not able to win the 2018 French Open, a pair of legends have claimed.
Djokovic has struggled for form since returning from an elbow injury, but looked good en-route to the semi-finals in the Italian Open.
He also breezed through his first round match at Roland Garros, but he has had his chances talked down by Pat Cash and Mats Wilander.
“Novak just hasn’t played a lot of matches – you have to have matches under your belt to be successful on the clay,” said Cash, who believes the new generation of players have surpassed him.
“I’m not sure he can get that far.
“Kyle (Edmund) is up there when people say ‘who are the new guys coming though on clay?
“(Alexander) Zverev and (Dominic) Thiem have already come through and Kyle is in that handful of players who will definitely be up there in the next few years – and maybe this year”
Swedish legend Wilander agreed, adding: “Does he have a chance to win the French Open? I don’t think so.
“When you take a big step back it’s not as easy as taking that same size step forward to where you were.”
Djokovic is scheduled to face Jaume Munar in the second round on Wednesday.
